The Tarot cards have been in existence for thousands of years
and were thought to have been used in Ancient Egypt. In more
recent times they resurfaced during the Middle Ages.
It is believed they may have been used as a way of passing on
ancient knowledge through the symbology of the cards in a
time of religious intolerance and persecution. The Major
Arcana consists of 22 cards, as well as an additional 56 cards
divided into 4 suits of the Minor Arcana. In our modern culture,
Tarot is seen by some as just a light hearted tool for predicting
the future, or on a more sinister note as a tool for connection
with the occult.
However, the Tarot cards can serve us profoundly by
bringing us messages of inspiration and guidance. If
we allow their messages to us, they can guide us
powerfully on our journey of self-discovery.
